1) Timber care

We use tanalised wood within the structure of our garden buildings which helps the wood not to rot, it does not however mean that the wood is waterproof or weather sealed. When your building arrives you must let it air out, to remove any trapped moisture in the wood. The structure will then need to be painted with a suitable paint or lacquer. This must be done immediately and then repeated to ensure maximum protection. Repeat this process at least once a year.

2) Doors, windows and accessories

Our Georgian windows and doors are handcrafted bespoke joinary using premium pine so it is vital that you treat the wood. You should weatherproof all sides of the doors and the frames of the windows to maximise lifespan. Also pay good attention to the bottom of the door, as this area may receive more splashback from raindrops bouncing on the ground and hitting the timbers. All fixutres sohuld be well lubricated to reduce the chances of seizing up. This whote process should be repeated at least once a year.

3) Roof Felt

Inspect your roof regularly for quality. Check for rips or tears from debris or weather. Felt repair products should be used to repair any damage. Any damage that goes un-repaired, even a small rip, will eventually let in water (as water will find a way) and make the roofing boards wet and eventually mouldy. Regular clearing of leaves and debris should be carried out. You may need to replace the felt over the course of the shed's lifespan, contact us if you need assitance with this process.
